Relationship Healing and Cord Cutting: A Gentle Guide

Shambhala Healing Alchemy · 1 November 2026 · 3 minute read

Relationship healing is energy healing that focuses on the connection between two people and on the hurt each person carries. It is for partners who keep having the same argument, a parent and child who have drifted apart, or a boss and employee where every day feels tense. The aim is to ease the heaviness between you, so warmth, respect and understanding have room to return.

Why relationships get stuck

Most relationship tension is not about one big event. It builds from small moments: a word that stung, a promise that was missed, a silence that lasted too long. Over time, both people start to expect the worst from each other, and every conversation carries the weight of the past.

In energy healing traditions, this weight is often described as heavy or tangled energy in the connection between two people.

What are energetic cords?

Many healing traditions describe invisible threads, often called cords, that link us to the people in our lives. Healthy cords feel warm and light: you think of the person and feel at ease. Heavy cords feel draining: you think of them and your chest tightens or your stomach drops.

Cord cutting is a popular term for releasing these heavy attachments. In our practice we use a gentler idea. Instead of cutting someone out of your life, we work to clear what is heavy and painful in the connection, so what is healthy can stay. Where a relationship has truly ended, healing can help you let go with more peace.

Where relationship healing helps

  • Partners and marriage: repeating arguments, distance, lost closeness or shaky trust
  • Family: parent and child, siblings, in-laws, or a long falling out
  • Work: a difficult boss or employee, colleagues or business partners
  • Friendships: a bond you value that has become strained
  • Endings: after a breakup or divorce, when you want to move on with peace

What happens in a session

  1. We talk about the relationship. What is happening, how long it has felt this way, and what you would love instead.
  2. Healing the connection. You rest while we work with energy healing and mantra on the connection between you and on your own heart space.
  3. Bringing it into daily life. You leave with a simple daily practice to keep the connection calm and open.

Many people notice the air between them feel lighter and conversations become easier soon after a session.

What relationship healing is not

  • It is not a way to control another person or make someone love you. We never work against another person's will.
  • It is not couples counselling. It sits well alongside counselling, and does not replace it.
  • If you feel unsafe in a relationship, please contact 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732, or 000 in an emergency.

Frequently asked questions

Does the other person need to be there?

Not necessarily. Tell us about your situation on the free 15-minute call and we'll suggest what fits best.

Can relationship healing help with my boss?

Yes, work relationships are one of the most common reasons people come. We focus on easing the tension you carry and the heaviness between you.

Is cord cutting the same as relationship healing?

Cord cutting usually means releasing a connection completely. Relationship healing is broader: it clears what is heavy so the healthy part of the relationship can stay.
