Chakra Balancing in Melbourne: What to Expect

Shambhala Healing Alchemy · 2 November 2026 · 4 minute read

Chakra balancing is a gentle energy healing session that works across the seven main energy centres of the body, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. You rest, fully clothed, while the healer works with breath, intention and mantra, usually without touch. Many people describe feeling lighter, calmer and more settled afterwards. It is complementary support for relaxation and wellbeing, not a medical treatment.

At Shambhala Healing Alchemy, sessions run in person near Berwick and Narre Warren, in Melbourne's south east, or online by distance healing.

What are chakras?

In yoga and energy healing traditions, chakras are energy centres linked to areas of the body and to parts of everyday life, like feeling safe, expressing yourself or feeling connected. The seven main chakras are root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown.

For a full guide to each one, read our introduction to the seven chakras.

Why people book chakra balancing

People often come when they feel:

  • scattered, unsettled or "not quite themselves"
  • tense in the chest, stomach or shoulders
  • stuck after a stressful time or a big change
  • tired but unable to switch off
  • drawn to slow down and reconnect with themselves

There is nothing you need to believe for a session to be relaxing. Some people come for the deep rest alone.

What happens in a chakra balancing session

A session takes around 60 minutes:

  1. A short chat. What brings you in, and anything you would like the session to focus on.
  2. You rest. You lie or sit comfortably, fully clothed, with your eyes closed. Light touch is only ever used with your consent.
  3. Working through the chakras. The healer moves gently from root to crown, often with breath and mantra.
  4. A slow return. You take a few minutes to come back, with water and time to settle.
  5. A home practice. One simple practice to keep the calm going between sessions.

How it may feel

Everyone is different. People often notice warmth, tingling, heaviness, a sense of space, or simply deep relaxation. Some people feel very little during the session and notice afterwards that they slept well or felt clearer. All of these are normal.

Chakra balancing by distance

If you cannot travel, the same session can be done by distance healing. You rest at home at an agreed time, and we check in by phone or video before and after. Many people find distance sessions just as relaxing.

Simple chakra practices to try at home

  1. Grounding (root). Sit with your feet flat on the floor and notice the contact for one minute.
  2. Belly breathing (solar plexus). A hand on your belly, breathe in for 4 and out for 6. Ten rounds.
  3. Humming (throat). A soft, low hum on the out-breath for a minute can feel surprisingly calming.
  4. Hand on heart (heart). Rest a hand on your chest and silently repeat a kind word or short mantra.
